Agents
Agents are the heart of Cthulhu Awakens. Players form squads or teams of five that do battle against all kinds of grizzly and challenging foes during missions. Agents come in 2 basic flavors: regular agents and NFT agents with the later type having special qualities that make them highly useful for progressing through the increasingly challenging missions of Cthulhu Awakens. In keeping with typical RPG-style gaming, each agent belongs to a specific character class, carries a weapon, has armor, can use special abilities, and has a host of stats that differentiate it from all the other agents.
Agents are part of one of six character classes. Each class has its own strengths and weaknesses, as well as specialties that differentiate it from other classes.
- Attack rating: strength of offensive capabilities
- Defense rating: ability to defend itself from an enemy's attack to its health
- Fortitude rating: ability to withstand attacks on its sanity
- Wisdom rating: ability generate mana for using its special abilities
- Max Health: maximum level of health
- Max Sanity: maximum level of sanity
- Max Mana: maximum level of mana energy the agent can have
- Level: character level
- XP: experience points that accumulate for leveling up the character
Each agent has 2 dynamic stats that are critical for that agent's survival. During combat, an agent can take damage and receive attacks that lower its sanity. If either of these stats reaches 0, the agent can die and can no lower participate in the game. In gaming terms, this is called perma-death. Additionally, health and sanity are not immediately restored to full level immediately after mission are finished, but recovery takes time and sometimes the use of game resources like med packs and the like.s, and instead,
Each class has specific weapons that are associated with it. Weapons must be purchased or found through winning missions. Weapons can be upgraded to enhance their capabilities. The characters classes are linked to the following weapon types:
- Striker -> rifles
- Juggernaut-> flame throwers
- Grenadier -> grenade launchers
- Mechaneer-> machine guns
- Cleric-> shotguns
- Occultist-> poison & acid projectile weapons
During combat each time colored tiles are destroyed on the board, mana is collected by those agents that match the tiles' colors. Once an agent
