The HOWL Protocol
The HOWL Protocol is a game based on communication. The game uses AI technology to give a 'brain' to every Agent you own. The player can engage with their Agents directly and 'play' the game through conversation.
There are two primary ways to engage:
1) conversation for goals
- discuss in-world events, items, people & lore to increase Readiness
- When Readiness reaches a certain value, the player can send his/her Agent on a Mission
2) freeform conversation - Engage in freeform chat with your Agents - talk about whatever you want! The Agent will remember you and you can build Friendship Level over time. Casual positive conversation will also increase Readiness.
Each Agent has the following unique characteristics:
- relavent information contained in the metadata
- unique bio / backstory (what they did before joining Omega Black)
- personality
- Secrets (TBD, feature not present yet)
Missions are the main way to earn Reward Points in HOWL. Simply by chatting with an Agent about in-universe events, people, topics etc. will cause the Readiness meter go up.
When the Readiness value reaches the marker (usually around 50%) on the meter, the Player will get a new Mission
When a New Mission is assigned, a large pop-up will appear.
The Player must click OKAY to proceed, and the conversation resumes. The un-started Mission is shown in-line with the chat in smaller format. Note the initial Chace of Success.
Players may choose to BEGIN MISSION, or if they want a better Chance of Success, continue to talk to the Agent about the mission parameters. Ask about the location, the target or other specifics in the Mission Description. Notice the Chance of Success will go up with each inquiry. The Player may BEGIN MISSION at any time.
Missions are divided into categories:
- Attack
- Defend
- Escort
- Training
- Rest and Relaxation (R_&_R)
- Search_&_Rescue
- Recon
- Infiltration
- Pickup
- Delivery
- Salvage
- Guard_Duty
- Construction
- Demolition
Friendship - Improve this value to gain Friendship Level. Higher level Friendship confers additional bonuses (TBD).
Happiness - This value effects the RATE your Frienship and Readiness go up/down. A high Happiness will fill Friendship and Readiness faster. Happiness goes up from positive chatting, goes down from failed missions or abusive language. Happiness will also decay over time, so talk to your Agents often!
Readiness - Readiness goes up and down depending on chat and mission results but doesn't decay over time.
Text input is the default, but you can also use voice.
There are a limited number of voice tokens, and you can set the voice to Auto, Manual or Off.
- Auto - will read the Agents speech out loud automaticaly until all Tokens are gone.
- Manual - requires pressing the Play icon to hear the Agent speak
- Off - pure text input/output
